| Tremendous advances have been made in just the last
5 years in the science of endodontics. New techniques and instruments
have been developed to make root canal treatment fast, comfortable and
predictable. |
| Over 95 % of all root canals are successful. Most
can be done in a single appointment. And there should be no pain! |
| When the pulp or nerve inside a tooth is injured or
diseased, the tooth becomes a candidate for root canal treatment. The
diseased tissue is removed, the inside of the tooth is disinfected and
then sealed with a biocompatible material. The treated tooth often can
still be kept for a lifetime. |
The picture on the right shows how an x-ray of an
abscessed tooth can look (the dark area inside the yellow circle).
After a successful root canal, the bone will regenerate around the
tooth and keep it in it's place
